Gold Nugget Smelting
Smelting and casting of accepted gold nuggets, following material assessment, documentation review and an agreed processing plan.
Overview
From natural nuggets to a manageable gold form
Gold nuggets can contain other metals, mineral matter and surface impurities. Smelting uses controlled heat and, where appropriate, suitable fluxes to separate some unwanted material and bring the metal into a form that can be cast and assessed.
Smelting is not the same as high-purity refining. A cast bar can still contain silver, copper or other metals; its gold content must be established by appropriate assaying. Further refining may be required for a particular fineness.
Before work begins, we discuss the nugget material, its origin and supporting documents, review its suitability and agree on testing, charges, timing and the intended output. No fixed purity, recovery percentage or turnaround is promised before assessment.
Making an enquiry
Share the approximate nugget weight and unit, country or region of origin, any previous assay results and your preferred appointment date. Please contact us before bringing or sending material; all visits and material acceptance require confirmation.
The smelting journey
Assessment before processing
- 01
Consultation & material review
Share the nugget weight, origin and supporting records. We discuss acceptance and the intended outcome.
- 02
Assessment & agreement
Appropriate weighing and testing inform the processing plan. Charges and expected timing are agreed before work starts.
- 03
Smelting & casting
Accepted material is processed under controlled conditions and cast into the form agreed with the client.
- 04
Assay & handover
Where agreed, the cast material is assayed and results are explained. Further refining needs and handover arrangements are discussed.
